Selain dengan radioterapi, terapi lain yang digunakan adalah tindakan bedah, pemberian kemoterapi atau kombinasi dari ke tiga cara diatas. Pemilihan radioterapi untuk tumor-tumor ganas daerah leher dan kepala dipengaruhi oleh banyak factor yaitu: fungsi, kosmetik, sensitivitas tumor terhadap radioterapi dan keparahan tumor (Yen Chen, 1986)
Translation - Dutch Radiotherapie is een behandeling met ionen straling ter eliminatie van kwaadaardige tumoren die zich vooral bevinden ter hoogte van hoofd en halsstreek. Andere mogelijkheden die gebruikt kunnen worden buiten deze radiotherapie zijn: operatief verwijderen, chemotherapie of een combinatie van alle drie. De keuze van radiotherapie ter behandeling van kwaadaardige tumoren die zich bevinden ter hoogte van hoofd en halsstreek hangt af van o.a de volgende factoren: functie, cosmetiek, de reactie van de tumor op radiotherapie en het stadium waarin de tumor zich bevindt (Yen Chen, 1986)
