Growing up as a military brat, I had the privilege of experiencing many culturally enriching moments. One pivotal point in my life was living for two years in Maryland, United States, as a child. Like many children who learn a second language through immersion, I became practically fluent within a couple of months and enjoyed helping my mom, who struggled with English, by acting as her interpreter. It was then that I realized I wanted to become a translator, aiding people in overcoming their communication barriers.
I usually introduce myself as a translator, but the truth is that I love working with language in various capacities — from translating to reviewing and quality checking. Technology has also been a personal interest of mine. Having worked in this industry for over 20 years, I have witnessed significant changes in linguistic workflows. Keeping up with the evolution of CAT tools, online platforms, AI, and LLMs has been quite a challenge but also incredibly satisfying, as I am an avid learner who values constant self-improvement.
“Find a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
This famous phrase carries another often-overlooked conclusion: if you work in a field you are passionate about, you will always give your best and deliver quality in everything you do.
