French to English: kinetics and spectroscopy of PAH
Source text - French Its structure and spectroscopy have been investigated for several decades now. Rotationally resolved vibrational spectrum of this important dimer is still elusive. The slit-jet FTIR spectrometer in Rennes was used to record the spectrum of benzene coexpanded in Ar. A red-shift is observed in vibrational modes around 3000 cm-1, contrary to the theoretical predictions of a blue-shift in some of these modes. However, initial experiments suggest that the spectra could be contaminated with Ar-benzene cluster lines. LIF studies have been carried out as well to optimize the formation of benzene dimer through the slit-jet nozzle. The travel reports submitted during the last year do give the details.
Translation - English Le dimère de benzène pourrait être considéré le prototype le plus simple des faisceaux aromatiques polycycliques d'hydrocarbure. On étudie ses structures et sa spectroscopie depuis des décennies. Le spectre de vibration résolu de révolution de ce dimère important demeure insaisissable. Le spectromètre de FTIR fente-voyagent en jet à Rennes a été employé pour enregistrer le spectre de benzène développé dedans Ar. L’on observe un déplacement vers le rouge d’environ 3000 cm-1 en modes de vibration, contrairement aux prédictions théoriques d’un déplacement vers le bleu pour quelques modes. Néanmoins, les expériences initiales suggèrent que les spectres pourraient être contaminées avec les lignes de faisceaux Ar-benzene. L’on a également réalisé les études LIF afin d’optimiser la formation du dimère de benzène à travers du bec fente-voyagent en jet.
