Experience
Years of experience: 24. Registered at ProZ.com: Mar 2008.
I have 22 years’ experience as a translator, eight years of which were spent as an in-house translator with the professional services firm KPMG in Barcelona (Spain). During my time at KPMG, I became an expert translator for the audit department, focusing on the translation and reviewing of financial statements, audit memoranda, audit reports, etc. for banking and industrial clients. I also served the financial advisory team, translating due diligences, information risk management reports and corporate finance documents on their behalf.
Subsequent to leaving KPMG in 2008, I have provided my services to several leading translation agencies on a continuous basis, translating hundreds of documents for many Ibex 35 companies in Spain such as: Banco Santander, Telefónica, FCC, BBVA, La Caixa, Abertis and Abengoa, as well as providing support to the Big Four in-house translation teams. Further afield, I have translated for a number of multinationals in a variety of sectors such as: Nestlé in Switzerland, Barclays in London, Société Générale in France, and the Swiss pharmaceutical company, Novartis.
I have also worked for public institutions in Spain such as the Catalan regional government (Generalitat), the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), the Bank of Spain, and Spain’s Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, as well as international organisations such as the OECD and the European Central Bank.
In 2008, I took the decision to expand my areas of specialisation beyond financial translation and completed a Master’s Degree in Renewable Energy Management, which provided me with the technical insight into renewable energies and the energy sector as a whole required to specialise in this field. Since then, I have provided comprehensive translation services to many leading energy companies in Spain including: Iberdrola, Repsol, Endesa and Enagás.
Such is my experience as a business translator that in 2011 I was also appointed as an Associate Lecturer at the University of Durham (England) to teach a module of the MA in Translation Studies focusing on financial translation.
Given my extensive track record in technical translation and copywriting, I am confident I can provide a great service and help break down language barriers.
