Bio
Montreal-based English to French translator with 7 years of experience.

Specializing in literature with which I started (I have worked on 8 books, 2 of them about sports), I have since moved to various other fields and done work for companies such as Eaton, Honeywell, Manulife, Target, Nike, Dell, Toys "R" Us and Game Informer, amongst many others - mostly through the RR Donnelley agency with which I still collaborate regularly.

I have also done for RR Donnelley a great deal of editing work as well as quality control (at times very heavy), and so I am very much aware of the extra costs that come with a rushed translation, let alone a bad one. When working on a translation assignement, I am thus very meticulous and do the necessary research in a conscious effort to minimize the editing and quality control time.

I believe that the lower the rate paid for a translation, the more rushed this one will be, the more mistakes it will contain, and the more editing time it will require.

Having been paid rates up to $0.20 per source word, I am nevertheless willing to consider rates in the USD 0.11 range, especially as the Canadian dollar keeps making it advantageous still. My rates for editing and quality control are a fixed USD 30.00 and USD 25.00 per hour, respectively.

While meticulous, I can still keep up a good pace and guarantee a minimum of 2,500 words per day (up to 5,000 if not too technical) for translation assignements, and of 1,500 words and 3,500 words per hour for editing and quality control, respectively. I also do well with tight deadlines.
