Bio

I founded Rhyme&Reason Language Services in Patras in 2005 and have run it since — first as a translation studio, now as the delivery arm of RIMA Language_Tech_Culture, the language research and technology hub I set up in 2020. The group delivers over two million words a month across 90+ language combinations, for clients including the Alpha Bank Group, SIEMENS, Sunlight Battery Systems, the BBC and the Bioiatriki Healthcare Group.

My own desk work: EN–EL translation and editing in medical, technical, legal and banking texts — 35 million words, 30 published books, 7 specialised EN–EL dictionaries, and editorial work for English-language academic journals. MSc Translation Studies, Edinburgh. Scottish mother, Greek father; both languages native.

The group's working architecture is Expert-at-the-Core (EATC): in specialised language work, errors carry consequences, and human domain expertise is the quality gate, not the bottleneck. AI and MT operate inside a documented governance framework — translation memories, termbases and structured human review sit above the machine layer. I teach Translation Technologies at the University of Piraeus and chair Language_Tech Patras.

For outsourcers: 250+ termbases and 200+ TMs held as operational assets; Trados Studio, Phrase and our own R.I.M.A. system; translation, MTPE under governance, DTP and document reconstruction, LQA (MQM/DQF), terminology management, and interpreting (consecutive, simultaneous, RSI).
