Source text - Chinese 摘要：将68例老年期抑郁症病人随机分为治疗组和对照组，每组34 例。两组均用同样的三环类抗抑郁剂治疗，治疗组加用主动音乐治疗，即组织和指导病人自己演奏选定的乐曲。经8周的治疗显示，治疗组在第1周末即见症状好转，而对照组须至3~4周才显疗效，而且治疗组的总疗效比对照组好。

Translation - English Abstract: 68 elderly depression patients were randomized to the treatment group and the control group, with 34 in each group. Both groups were treated with the same tricyclic antidepressant. Patients from the treatment group underwent active music therapy, i.e., they were organized and instructed to play selected music compositions. During the 8-week treatment, depression symptoms began to improve at the end of the first week of treatment in the treatment group and after 3-4 weeks of treatment in the control group. Moreover, the overall therapeutic effect was better in the treatment group than the control group.
