Abstract.
The history of an older child victim of Munchausen by Proxy (MBP) is described. He was referred for evaluation after repeated sinus surgeries for recurrent sinus infections believed to be related to a falsified history of an immunodeficiency. The perpetrator was the mother of this 14-year-old victom, consistent with the majority of such cases. This case propmted a review of cases of MBP in older children reported in our hospital as well as a literature search for other cases in older children.

Viene descritta la storia di un bambino più grande, vittima di Munchausen by Proxy (1) (MBP).Veniva mandato per le valutazioni dopo ripetuti interventi chirurgici sinusali dovuti a ricorrenti infezioni sinusali che si credeva fossero collegate ad una falsa storia di immunodeficienza. Autore era la madre di questa vittima quattordicenne, compatibile con la maggior parte di casi del genere. Questo caso ha stimolato un riesame dei casi di MBP nei bambini più grandi segnalati al nostro ospedale nonché tramite una ricerca per altri casi in bambini più grandi.
