Poll: Would you marry a translator? Thread poster: ProZ.com Staff
|
|
My ex- girlfriend was a translator (in-house), and actually we cooperated very well, as I wrote as to another poll, she introduced me to some clients...
I guess I would not marry a translator, but actually I would never marry someone who has the same job as me, whatever the job is, for "safety reasons", something may go wrong, but it would not involve both.

However, I'd prefer that we'd be working in different fields and/or language pairs simply to avoid problems that might arise if we worked in the same areas.

Our home policy is: I don't teach, she doesn't translate.

Although I have never been big on the idea of marriage and nuclear family relationships per se, I don't see why not.
I occasionally collaborate with one of my exes on translation jobs and we make a great team.

I can't imagine basing a marriage decision on profession. So yes, in theory, I would. But I'm already spoken for and have no translators clamouring at my door ...
i wouldn't choose a mate specifically based on profession although there might be a few that would deter me....however translator is ok.
I'm not in a big hurry to marry anyone. But i think Targama has a point...single translators can certainly find each other here on Proz! Remind me to get a really good photo of myself...LOL!
Of course, it would be hard since most of us are scattered through the globe.
