What's this? | Jun 20, 2012 |
And why should I have it?
If it was a must-have, I'd already heard about it and might've already got one. Is this a sales pitch?
Mary Worby United Kingdom Local time: 23:23 Member German to English + ... I'd quite like a Blue Board app | Jun 20, 2012 |
I've quite often accessed the Blue Board via my phone when I've been contacted by a new agency when out and about. It's a little bit clunky, and a simple app where I could just enter the agency name would be brilliant.
Apart from that, I can't see much need.
Clara Chassany Finland Local time: 01:23 Member (2012) Finnish to French + ... If I had a smartphone I guess I would like to have a Proz app. | Jun 20, 2012 |
Assuming it would allow to see the posted jobs and directly send quotes.

would be great. Some quick and efficient functionality. Why not.
Pity for my smartphone video (small). And above all for me.
If I would use my smartphone as such it would be great to have this app.
As I only use it a normal mobile phone, I don't need it.
In general, I think it would be good to have the option to get the app as there might be some who would certainly use it.
Question: Would this app only be available for smartphones or also for tablet PCs?
Louisa Berry United Kingdom Local time: 23:23 German to English Quoting on jobs when out and about | Jun 20, 2012 |
As I have templates saved I thought it would be quick and easy to quote on something when out and about. Unfortunately (probably not Proz's fault) when I try to click on a template in a quote from my iPhone nothing happens.
It would be nice to have an app to easily submit quotes and check the BlueBoard.

I work from home most of the time and my 2 desktops are permanently on, in different parts of the house. I am sitting at my computer basically all day long and during weekends or holidays I prefer not to think about work and proz, therefore receiving some emails on my smartphone is more than enough. It is an interesting idea, maybe for interpreters, that have to work on different locations.
Right now I don't need such an App.

No smartphone | Jun 20, 2012 |
I don't have a smartphone and don't plan to buy one in the near future, so I wouldn't have any use for such an app.
Manuela Junghans Germany Local time: 00:23 Member (2004) English to German + ... I´m glad to hear... | Jun 20, 2012 |
...that I´m not the only one still living in the past century, not using a smartphone.
And as Veronica said, we tend to spend too much time in front of our computers anyway. So when I´m out and about then I´m out and about for a reason, and don´t want to think about work too much.

Guys, if you do not have a smartphone, it is natural that you do not need such an app. Since I use my smartphone almost every day to be online, I would definitely use any app that allows for comfortable quoting, surfing through proz.com pages, etc.
Definitely yes! | |

and if I don't like it or find it not useful I can always choose not to use it.

Yesterday's poll:
Assumption that we all own/use CAT tools
Today's poll:
Assumption that we all own/use smartphones
They exclude a sizeable proportion of answerers and their discussions never really get off the ground, much less become "robust".

I should have voted "other" instead of "no"

I would not find it useful: when I work, I concentrate on work - and that happens in my office. When I do not work, other things and/or people get my full attention... No smartphone for me.
