Hi,
Hope you are doing well here at ProZ! It long time since my last post here.
I have Excel file with rows like this "Australia > Western Australia > Wellington Mill > Peppermint Lane Lodge"
I want to translate the name of the country and city name only, while keeping the remaining in English. For example, here I want to translate "Australia" and "Western Australia".
So, I want ot hide the remaining part after the second ">".

Copy source to target in Studio
May 25, 2014
Salam Ahmed,
I'm not sure if you can "Hide" cells in Excel sheets without having to protect the sheet.
But one way to achieve what you described is by using "Copy source to target" within the editor view in Trados, do this whenever you reach a segment that needs to stay in English, and confirm.
All the best,
Noura

I need to translate the first part of segment and keep the other part

Thanks, Noura.
May be I was not clear in my words. I need to translate the first part of segment and keep the other part in English.
If I used Copy Source to Target feature, then I will need to translate the first 2 words to Arabic and keep the other part in English. This will be time consuming. In my example here I will need to translate "Australia > Western Australia" and keep "Wellington Mill > Peppermint Lane Lodge" in English.
Thanks, Noura.

I need to hide this second part that I will not translate.

You could use...

perhaps it's worth exploring preparing the excel file first? I don't know what your file looks like, but if it is all this format separated by this symbol > then you could split the column into two in excel, hide the second column, and then you would not see this in Studio. Once finished save the target file, unhide the second column and merge them back together again.
