Translation - English The world’s first digital channel seeking system was developed by Philips in Hamburg, and fitted for the first time in the Philips “Goya-Royal 770” television set in 1977. This did away with the need for the laborious tuning of television stations when a television set is used for the first time. From then on, everything was carried out automatically by the system: channel seeking, fine tuning and the saving of up to 16 channel settings. User control was via an infra-red remote controller which was part of the overall system. The selected program and the corresponding channel were shown on the screen along with the picture. User convenience was greatly increased, making life easier for the customer, and it is now impossible to imagine life without it.
