Curiosity has shaped both my travels and my career. Over the years, I have lived, worked and volunteered across Europe, North, Central and South America, and Asia, travelling to more than 35 countries along the way. Experiencing different cultures first-hand has taught me that language is never just about words. It reflects history, values and ways of thinking, and that is what first drew me to translation.

During my Master's degree in British Studies, I became particularly interested in linguistics and intercultural communication. I was fascinated by the fact that some concepts simply cannot be translated word for word because they are deeply rooted in culture. At the same time, I discovered how much I enjoy research. Writing academic papers taught me to analyse information critically, evaluate sources and explore unfamiliar subjects in depth. That curiosity continues to shape the way I approach every translation project.

Before becoming a freelance translator, I spent more than fifteen years working in hospitality, including at an off-grid wilderness resort in the Canadian Yukon. Working with international guests every day showed me how differently people communicate and what makes communication feel natural, clear and welcoming across cultures.

I have always been an organised person. I enjoy planning projects carefully, breaking complex tasks into manageable steps and leaving enough time for revision. Reliability and attention to detail have always been important to me, whether at university or in my professional work today.

Outside work, I enjoy travelling, hiking and discovering local culture wherever I go. I also researched, wrote and published my own travel guide, combining my love of exploration with my interest in writing. When I am at home, I enjoy painting watercolours and baking sourdough bread, both of which remind me that patience and careful craftsmanship often lead to the best results
