Description | The Irish Translators’ and Interpreters’ Association / Cumann Aistritheoirí agus Ateangairí na hÉireann was formed in 1986. It is the only professional association in Ireland representing the interests of practising translators and interpreters. The ITIA promotes the highest standards within the profession. Its members are required to sign up and adhere to the ITIA Code of Practice and Professional Ethics and, where applicable, the Code of Ethics for Community Interpreters. The ITIA endeavours to foster an understanding among translation and interpretation clients of the highly-skilled and exacting nature of the professions. In addition to providing guidance to Association members, the ITIA acts in an advisory capacity to Government bodies, the Garda Síochána (Police), NGOs, the media and others involved in the provision of translation and interpreting services. |
