To open a Personal account, you need to provide your first and last name, address, phone number, and email address.
For your protection, you’ll create a password for your new account and select 2 security questions.
After you sign up for an account, you can start receiving money right away. If you'd like to send money to family and friends, simply add a payment method, like a debit or credit card, or a bank account.
Note: The same info is given when you choose "Business".
For information on how to add a bank account, just check out the Support and Contact Page, and more specifically, the relevant article under Account profile and set up:

Thank you all for your feedback.
As Marissa stated, it depends on the location. I'm in the USA. And I do remember being required to have a credit card or debit card. Additionally, if I remember correctly, to withdraw above a certain amount, one had to provide a checking account number. This was years ago so I'm not certain. Does anyone know the threshold before a checking account is required? I can't get a straight answer on PayPal.

The idea is to use PayPal by providing the least information possible.
What are the thresholds before one is required to do the following?
1. provide a credit card or debit card
2. provide a checking account

Is there a reason why you don't want to add your bank account?
It seems limits are not the same for everyone, so you would need to log into your account and click on View Limits.
If your account isn't verified, the limit is $500 per month. | | | Lian Pang Poland Local time: 22:17 Member (2018) English to Chinese + ... never knew about that | May 26, 2018 |
hmmm interesting. I wonder what is the reason for such practices.
I never knew that in some countries you are required to provide a card to open a paypal account, which, sounds to me, kinda undermines the benefit of having a paypal.
Thanks for the correction Marissa | |

How can your account be "verified"?
Not having to provide a bank account is a matter of privacy. For me the whole purpose of PayPal is to not have to give them my bank account info. Otherwise, what is the point of PayPal? | | | Hinara United States Local time: 13:17 Spanish to English + ... TOPIC STARTER Withdrawing to credit cards | May 26, 2018 |

From what I understand, in the USA Paypal lets you withdraw to your credit card only if it's a PayPal credit card. Am I wrong about that? | | | Thayenga Germany Local time: 22:17 Member (2009) English to German + ... The procedures | May 27, 2018 |

By filling in all required information. Then PP will send you an email with a link you can click on which verifies your account. Just make sure that PP is addressing you by your name to avoid being scammed.

PP needs some kind of "outside" account, which they will treat with utmost confidentiality. I don't even know if there is such a thing as only a PP account, because they also have to obey to governing laws, e. g. prevent money laundering.
My question would be, what good would PP do, if you can't withdraw the income you're generating?

PayPal seems to work quite well in th US, but in Europe they are a horrible bunch, cheating, not letting you retrieve your money unless you write to Luxembourg and complain about them. i do not understand why people still work with them. It costs the same to use WU and at least you can get your money ! | | | To report site rules violations or get help, contact a site moderator: You can also contact site staff by submitting a support request » PayPal requirement Wordfast Pro | Translation Memory Software for Any Platform
