Spanish term

de manera transversal

Spanish to English Other Zoology
This must rate as one of most disliked words to translate. Quite why they have to use such an oblique and vague word, I don't know...
You'll also see that includes another word that drives to distraction "museográfico"...

Help desperately needed here (but not "transversally", please!)
Many thanks

"Más allá de suponer un recorrido por los biomas marinos más representativos y amenazados del mundo, la visita al [Zoo] debe incorporar otros aspectos de manera transversal que deben estar presentes a lo largo de todas las installaciones museográficas, transmitiendo mensajes en paralelo a la contemplación e interacción con los animales"

ditto well we all know that sometimes a spade is a digging implement etc etc and I would just keep it simple

interrelated

My take on it.

Example sentence:

...the [Zoo] visit should also incorporate/include other interrelated aspects/elements which should be present throughout the museum´s installations...

4 KudoZ points awarded for this answer. Comment: "Tough one this - and very high on my list of least-preferred words in Spanish. Thanks everyone; James's was the most helpful. "

This is somewhat of a different take on it, but I think it works OK. After all, the phrase does not merit going through agony or putting the reader in agony.

Insofar as "instalaciones museográficas" = museum facilities

"instalaciones museográficas" could also be more precisely rendered just as (museum) exhibits, and you could even use "exhibits" alone because we already know we are in a museum.

guiding thread

Desde luego que no es una traducción literal. Al interpretar la frase completa, se entiende que la visita al zoo muestra un recorrido de diferentes biomas marinos cuya disposición no es casual, sino que siguen un hilo conductor (guiding thread) según el cual habrá un orden lógico y en el que además de visualizar los animales se aporta información complementaria. No sé qué te parece...
Y lo de museográfico parece que es una palabra del argot:
Ej. El guión museográfico organiza, de una forma sencilla, ordenada, precisa y directa, las obras, así como los paneles y gráficos que deben ser usados en la exposición. Y veo que el término "museographical" se suele emplear... Suerte!
