Spanish term

valorización y transferencia del conocimiento

Spanish to English Tech/Engineering Education / Pedagogy
This is from a document detailing conditions for planned university annex.

Please consider:

1) The problem is the word valorización.

2) It is clear from the context of the document that this means "to add value to" and NOT "to assess/evaluate".

3) This is the name of a department.

TIA!! :)

"Construcción del nuevo edificio R5 con el objetivo de crear un espacio de unidades y servicios a la comunidad ABC, que abarca las áreas de internacionalización, orientación e inserción laboral, valorización y transferencia del conocimiento, incubadora de spin offs, entre otras"

S Ben Price (asker) Nov 19, 2009:
Thanks Thanks for the input everyone, it turns out that it had been translated as "appraisal" before, and so much so that we were stuck with this even though it did not convey the meaning of adding value. Value-added was also excluded due to the context of the document where they used both "value-added" and "valuación". Maybe they were meant to be synonyms, not sure about that. In the interest of having the correct official translation (it has been confirmed) in the Proz database, I am not selecting any answers. But thanks again for your help. I am not sure how to add the correct term now (appraisal and transfer of knowledge) - maybe someone can suggest it as an answer so it can be added to the database.

preservation and dissemination of knowledge

Best I can come up with. It would be helpful to know exactly what this department does (i.e., what kind of knowledge does it want to preserve and promote, and how does it want to accomplish this purpose).

Suerte.

Knowledge valuation and transfer

Google search displays dozens of references to "evalorización y transferencia del conocimiento" to name projects or departments.
It appears to refer to an actual appraisal or "valuation" of the knowledge possessed, in terms of its potential for productive implementation, prior to dissemination/transference of that knowledge.
