Course Description/Syllabus:

El curso comprende el conocimiento necesario de la matemática básica, el alumno deberá aprender a razonar en función de los conceptos y luego aplicar y resolver ejercicios de los diferentes temas.

Obviously, I know what it means, but I just need a neat equivalent.

If you go for my proposed option, you don't really need to translate "conocimiento", but if you prefer to, you could say: "... covers (or covering) the necessary basic knowledge of maths".
