German term
soweit eine solche nicht stattfindet
German to English
Bus/Financial
Construction / Civil Engineering
Die Verjährung der Haftungsansprüche, einschließlich Mängelansprüche, beginnt grundsätzlich mit der Abnahme der Leistungen des AN, soweit eine solche nicht stattfindet, frühestens jedoch nach Abnahme aller Leistungen der bauausführenden Unternehmen und der Kostenfeststellung.
The limitation period of the liability claims, including claims for defects, shall in all cases commence upon the acceptance of the services of the Contractor; or, if this such an acceptance does not take place, after the acceptance of all the services of the construction companies and the establishment of costs at the earliest.

This little clause is confusing me a little. Have I gotten it right? I have a feeling that I've not!

or, if such an acceptance does not occur
"if this such an" is grammatically incorrect. For a document with legal effect I prefer the use of "occur" in place of "take place" as its meaning is unambiguous.

That's not correct German. The comma after "stattfindet" is wrong. Also, imho it becomes clearer if you swap "frühestens" and "jedoch" and if you use a semicolon after "AN":
Die Verjährung der Haftungsansprüche, einschließlich Mängelansprüche, beginnt grundsätzlich mit der Abnahme der Leistungen des AN; soweit eine solche nicht stattfindet jedoch frühestens nach Abnahme aller Leistungen der bauausführenden Unternehmen und der Kostenfeststellung.
Your translation seems perfectly fine to me.

@Steffen:
Yes, but you wouldn't use a comma in "; … soweit erforderlich auch Montags", the difference being that in your example, the rest of the sentence contains a verb, while my example (and the amended German version above) don't have one.
I still think there should be no comma, but OTOH, this is not my strong side.

Alright, if I look at the context help, I still think this can be considered reference comment. I'll think twice next time ;-)

: In your amended German version, the comma after "stattfindet" would be absolutely correct./Discussion entry rather than reference post because you don't cite any ref./You'd also use a comma in "Soweit erforderlich, werden wir ...", wouldn't you?

I don't think so, could you explain why you think a comma is needed and/or correct? /The rest of the sentence has no verb. You wouldn't use a comma in "; … soweit erforderlich auch Montags.", would you?
