Riesling ist eine weiße Rebsorte, die als eine der besten Weißweinsorten gilt. Deutsche Riesling-Weine genießen ein hohes Ansehen auch auf den internationalen Märkten. Die trockenen Rieslingweine aus der Pfalz sind in der Regel wuchtiger und säureärmer als beispielsweise die vom Rhein. Die Farbe des Weins kann von Blass-Gelb mit Grünstich bis Goldgelb reichen. Der von Natur aus hohe Anteil der Säure des Rieslings lässt leicht Parallelen mit dem Apfel finden. Der Geschmack zeichnet sich in der Jugend durch vielfältige fruchtige Aromen, wie Grapefruit, Limone, Zitrone, Apfel, Pfirsich und Passionsfrucht, aus. Normalerweise sind die Weine leicht bis mittelschwer, und werden als frisch, stahlig, rassig und mineralisch beschrieben. Der Riesling besitzt die Fähigkeit, den Charakter der jeweiligen Lage besonders gut zum Ausdruck zu bringen.

The color of the wine can range from pale yellow with a slight green tint to a golden yellow. The high natural acid content of the Riesling easily compares with that of apples. In its young state, its taste displays a multitude of fruit aromas such as grapefruit, lime, lemon, apple, peach and passion fruit. Generally, Riesling wines are light to medium and are often described as fresh, steely, racy and minerally.
