3. Testing in a simple switching circuit
A simple switching circuit, to test an NPN transistor
Connect the transistor into the circuit shown on the right which uses the transistor as a switch. The supply voltage is not critical, anything between 5 and 12V is suitable. This circuit can be quickly built on breadboard for example. Take care to include the 10k resistor in the base connection or you will destroy the transistor as you test it!
If the transistor is OK the LED should light when the switch is pressed and not light when the switch is released.
To test a PNP transistor use the same circuit but reverse the LED and the supply voltage.
Some multimeters have a 'transistor test' function which provides a known base current and measures the collector current so as to display the transistor's DC current gain hFE.

As compared to standard printed circuits which use discrete components, I C s have the following advantages.
I. Extremely Small Physical size: Often the size is thousands of times smaller than a discrete circuit. The various components and their interconnections are distinguishable only under a powerful microscope.
II. Very Small Weight: Since manufacturers can pack much more circuitry into an IC package, it drastically cuts down the weight of the circuit. Weight and size are of great importance in military and space applications, though in consumer applications they are always the primary consideration.
III. Reduced Cost: It is a major advantage of I Cs. The reduction in cost per unit is due to the fact that all circuit components are fabricated in or on the wafer at the same time and also because hundreds of similar wafers are produced simultaneously. Due to mass production, an IC costs as much as an individual transistor.
IV. Extremely high reliability: It is perhaps the most important advantage of an IC and is due to many factors. Most significant factor is the absence of soldered connections. Another is the need for fewer interconnections – the major cause of circuit failures. Small temperature rise due to low power consumptions of I Cs also improves their reliability. In fact, an IC logic gate has been found to be 100,000 times more reliable than a vacuum tube logic gate and 100 times more reliable than a transistor logic gate.
V. Suitability for Small – Signal operation: Since, various components of an IC are located very close to each other in or on silicon wafer their chance of stray electrical pick up is practically nil. Hence, it makes them very suitable for small signal operation.
VI. Low Power Consumption: Because of their small size, I Cs are more suitable for low power operation than bulky discrete circuits.
VII. Easy Replacement: I Cs are hardly ever repaired because in case of failure, it is more economical to replace them than to repair them.

SAFETY
TVs and computer or video monitors are among the more dangerous of consumer electronic equipment when it comes to servicing. (Microwave ovens are probably the most hazardous due to high voltage at high power.) There are two areas which have particularly nasty electrical dangers: the non-isolated line power supply and the CRT high voltage.
Major parts of nearly all modern TVs and many computer monitors are directly connected to the AC line - there is no power transformer to provide the essential barrier for safety and to minimize the risk of equipment damage. In the majority of designs, the live parts of the TV or monitor are limited to the AC input and line filter, degauss circuit, bridge rectifier and main filter capacitor(s), low voltage (B ) regulator (if any), horizontal output transistor and primary side of the flyback (LOPT) transformer, and parts of the startup circuit and standby power supply. The flyback generates most of the other voltages used in the unit and provides an isolation barrier so that the signal circuits are not line connected and safer. Since a bridge rectifier is generally used in the power supply, both directions of the polarized plug result in dangerous conditions and an isolation transformer really should be used - to protect you, your test equipment, and the TV, from serious damage. Some TVs do not have any isolation barrier whatsoever - the entire chassis is live. These are particularly nasty.
The high voltage to the CRT, while 200 times greater than the line input, is not nearly as dangerous for several reasons. First, it is present in a very limited area of the TV or monitor - from the output of the flyback to the CRT anode via the fat HV wire and suction cup connector. If you don't need to remove the mainboard or replace the flyback or CRT, then leave it alone and it should not bite. Furthermore, while the shock from the HV can be quite painful due to the capacitance of the CRT envelope, it is not nearly as likely to be lethal since the current available from the line connected power supply is much greater.

Fitness plays major role in promoting good health, prevention of illnesses.
According to the American Heart Association, physical inactivity and low fitness level are primary risk factors along with smoking, hypertension, high cholesterol.
25% of Americans lead sedentary life, face high obesity and heart risk – poor eating habits, sedentary lifestyle, poor lifestyle (e.g. smoking), stress .. etc.

Strength is ability of body to contract its muscles with (maximum) force under influence of:
1) Structural / anatomical / biomechanical factors -> how efficient a machine

In fitness or sport, strength is ability of body to exert musculoskeletal force against an external resistance.

Valsalva Maneuver – for advanced athletes only; Not for beginners or special populations. Prevents / manages Valsalva Phenomenon.
Heavy weight lifting with explosive movements load the spine. I
Intra-abdominal and intra-thoracic pressure build up against blood vessels supplying O2 to heart and chest. These vessels may collapse and restrict O2 to heart. Person thus faces risk of injury, fainting or even death. This is called Valsulva Phenomenon.
Inhale during negative phase. Then use glottis to hold breath with simultaneous contraction of abs, rib cage muscles. Exhale during final ⅓rd of ROM. Do not hold breath over 8 secs.
Normal breathing, without holding breath, for beginners, special populations. In eccentric phase inhale through nose; in concentric phase exhale through mouth - “pursed lips”.
Warm Up
General – for whole body. Specific – only those muscles to be worked immediately.
Benefits: Increases muscle contraction rate, intramuscular electrical activity, limit strength, amount of time contractions maintained, ability of connective tissue to accept, absorb force, muscle temp due to dissociation of O2 from RBC, nerve conduction velocity, number of capillaries opened up. Reduction in injury, fatigue risk.
Ideal for short, explosive sports, not for endurance or progressive events.
Direct warm-up only for athletes. Indirect for 4-5 mins ok too – e.g. stretching, cycling, etc.
Cool down
Light aerobic activity advisable for high intensity anaerobic activity. Removes lactic acid in blood stream, muscles. DOMS minimized.
RHR and BP normalized. Cardiac output of 80-85% to muscles reduce to resting normal 15-20% so that organs begin to receive blood flow. Prevents nausea.

• Body structured at 5 levels: chemicals cells associate to form tissues tissues function together in body systems human body.
• Chemical level: atoms, molecules. 98% of body composed of 6 elements - oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium and phosphate.
A - Cells:
Atoms, molecules create cells – building blocks. Basic life.
• About 100 to 300 trillion cells of all types, shapes, sizes in each body!
• E.g. striated muscle cells several inches long capable of contracting => muscle contractions. Fat cells small, round and store fatty acids for energy during lean times.
• Self-reproducing ability. Body created from union of (sex cells) female egg and male sperm => zygote – starting point of the 100 trillion cells!
• Each cell divides into 2 and so on in a process that continues for ever. After total number reached a relatively fixed number, cells divide to replace old or dead cells.
• Cell components or organelles include plasma membrane, nucleus, ribosomes, endoplasmic, reticulum, Golgi apparatus, lysosome, mitochondria.
• Plasma Membrane: Made of proteins, phospholipid bi-layers (fatty acids, gycerol, phosphate molecules). Fatty acids attached to 3 carbohydrateon glycerol molecules > triglycerides. Fat essential to life, muscle mass dev, endurance running! It absorbs and transports nutrients, pushed out toxins. Insulin hormone stimulates intake of glucose and amino acids across membrane.
• Nucleus: Darker in color, control center of cell. Houses genetic material – DNA (De-oxy-ribono-nucelic Acid) – strands form 46 chromosomes (23 pairs) which decide how we look, etc. One set each from male sperm, female egg. Nucleus production of substances needed by cells, with help of messenger RNA (Ribonucleic Acid). If certain amino acids missing, protein chains incomplete. Hence protein intake mandatory!
• Golgi Apparatus: They create carbohydrate biomolecules and then combine with proteins to form glycoproteins. Glycoproteins function as enzymes, hormones, antibodies, structural proteins, etc.
• Mitochondria: Generate energy. ATP resides here. Involved in protein synthesis and lipid metabolism.
B - Tissues: Basic units of function, structure. (Cells – basic units of life.) Aggregation of cells bound together, working to perform a common function. Classified as: Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, Nervous.
• Epithelial: Covering layer of body (skin), inner cavities, organs, etc. Protective from outside, from inside work as absorbing, secreting tissues – e.g. stomach lining.

பொதுவானது - முழு உடலுக்கும். குறிப்பானது - உடனடியாக இயக்கக்கூடிய தசைகளுக்கு மட்டும்.
பலன்கள்: தசையின் கான்ட்ராக்ஷன் ரேட், தசைகளுக்குள் நிலவும் எலக்ட்ரிக் செயல்பாடு, லிமிட் ஸ்ட்ரென்த், கான்ட்ராக்ஷன் பராமரிக்கப்படும் கால அளவு, இணைப்புத் திசுவின் ஏற்புத் திறன், உறிஞ்சு சக்தி, RBC யில் இருந்து O2 பிரிவதால் ஏற்படும் தசையின் டெம்ப், நெர்வ் கன்டக்ஷன் வெலாசிடி, திறந்திருக்கும் ரத்த நுண்குழாய்களின் எண்ணிக்கை முதலியவற்றை அதிகரிக்கிறது. காயம், சோர்வுக்கான அபாயத்தை குறைக்கிறது.
சிறிய, எக்ஸ்ப்லோசிவ் விளையாட்டுகளுக்கு மிகப் பொருத்தமானது. என்டியூரன்ஸ் அல்லது தொடர்ச்சியாக நடக்கும் நிகழ்வுகளுக்கு பொருத்தமற்றது.
நேரடி வாம்-அப், விளையாட்டு வீரர்களுக்கு மட்டுமே உரியது. 4 - 5 நிமிடங்கள் மறைமுகமான வாம்-அப்பும் சரி தான். எ.டு.ஸ்ட்ரெச்சிங், சைக்கிளிங் போன்றவை.
கூல் டவுன்
உயர் செறிவுள்ள ஏனரோபிக் செயல்பாட்டுக்கு முன், லேசான ஏரோபிக் செயல்பாடு மேற்கொள்ள அறிவுறுத்தப்படுகிறது. ரத்தத்திலும் தசையிலும் உள்ள லேக்டிக் அமிலத்தை நீக்குகிறது. DOMS குறைந்தபட்சமாக்கப்படுகிறது. Translation - English [Vanakkam] is the most common form of greeting. It can be used in place of "hello", "hi", "excuse me" etc. It is also used to show your respect to anyone. It can be used for both acquaintances and strangers.

In Tamil, when addressing someone, the word "you" [Neengal] is omiited, except when explicit identification is required. Hence, instead of 'How are you?' [Neengkal eppadi erukkireergal?] we say "How are?" [eppadi erukkireergal?] Compare this with English imperatives, where 'you' is normally omitted. However, In Tamil, this is true with both imperatives ( [Vaanga] - 'come here') and interrogatives (['eppadi irukkureergal?] - 'how are?').

[Thozhi] means friend (female). Most of the nouns (human form) in Tamil have separate masculine and feminine forms. Friend (male) is referred by the word [Thozan]. 1. The children are XXXXXXX , date of birth 27th May 2005 and now 10 years old and XXXXXXX, date of birth 2nd June 2008 and now 2 years old. The children’s mother is XXXXXXX. The children were born during the marriage of their mother to XXXXXXX but DNA testing has confirmed that he is not the father of either child. From 2004 the mother was in a relationship with XXXXXXX. Whether or not he is the father of either or both of the children is currently being confirmed by DNA Testing.
2. The children were taken into police protection on 6th May 2010 and placed in foster care. They were made the subjects of Emergency Protection Orders on 7th May 2010 and interim Care Orders on 14th May 2010. The children have remained in foster care to date. As such the relevant date for determining the threshold criteria is the 6th May 2010, the date since which protective measures have been continually in place.
