Bio
After passing the UCLES Diploma in English Studies (Literature) with a First and taking a Teacher Training Course, I worked as a teacher, first-briefly-at a secondary school and then at a Secretarial/Business School, where I taught courses in English Language, Business English, Literature and Word Processing. Later, I left teaching to work in the Faculty of Arts of the University of Montevideo.

I have always been interested in the mechanics of translation and began freelancing twelve years ago. Passing the Chartered Institute of Linguists' Diploma in Translation (with a Distinction in Literature) contributed to my decision to become a full-time translator.

Besides Language, Literature and Education, my interests, which have led to extensive reading, include arts and crafts, gender issues, history, the environment and flying (I used to be a light aircraft pilot).

Particularly in areas such as Business, Economics, Finance, Human Resources and Marketing, I work together with my husband, who was involved in international business for many years and has a master's degree from Edinburgh University.

Together we have translated material such as art catalogues, documents for international organizations, papers on various subjects submitted for funding, manuals, articles and essays for academic journals and other publications, course descriptions, correspondence and PowerPoint presentations.

Since some scammers are impersonating translators, please make sure that messages sent in my name were actually sent by me.
One way to do this is to request a reply from my paid domain; another is to communicate through the contact page in my website www.southtranslations.com.
Thank you!
