Source text - English Demonstrations mark a New Era
As Theresa Spence goes hungry in the Canadian cold, her message resonates well beyond Ottawa. In addition to a number of protests and events across Canada and the U.S, indigenous groups in the South are reemerging.
On December 21 in Chiapas, Mexico, tens of thousands in support of the Zapatista Mayas peacefully mobilized, 19 years after the Zapatista uprising that marked the signing of NAFTA.
Meanwhile, as popular media romanticized rumors of the 2012 Mayan apocalypse, ceremonies took place at various sites in Guatemala to mark what this event really means: the end of the Baktun 5,200 year cycle (and its beginning anew) in the Mayan calendar. These gatherings included peaceful demonstrations against ongoing poverty, exclusion, and commercialization.

Translation - Spanish With a sad expression and fallen eyes, Jules Verne describes his life: "My biggest regret has been the fact that I have never had a place in French literature," Verne stubbornly repeats in a long conversation with journalist Robert H. Sherad. During the interview, prolific author Verne, born in a French city called Nantes, was sixty six years old and still longed to exceed eighty novels. Although Verne created literature for the scientific era thanks to being inspired by the greatest scientific and technical progresses of the nineteenth century, he put all his research and knowledge into epic stories, praising human genius in the fight to dominate nature, in novels like Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea, Around the World in Eighty Days, and Journey to the center of the Earth. He predicted many of the scientific achievements of the twentieth century and only now, he is considered the father of science fiction.

Language and Pragmatics
The Art of Copywriting
Translation is more than transmitting a message into a different language; it goes beyond the linguistic layer and into a pragmatic layer, that is context. As a Translator or Interpreter, the biggest challenge is that your audience is often culturally and socially different. Copywriters have a bonus issue: their audience must also be persuaded. Paul Grice (English Philosopher) talked about the Cooperative Principle, efficient communication and much more.
