Source text - German Seit Februar 2009 ist www.sozialraumentwicklung.de online und bietet einen Einblick in die Arbeitsstände der aktuellen sozialraumbezogenen Forschung, die am Fachbereich Sozial-wesen und in Kooperation mit der FH Wiesbaden betrieben wird. Absolventen und Studie-rende des Masterstudiengang „maps – Sozialraumentwicklung und -organisation“ haben hier die Gelegenheit, eigene wissenschaftliche Texte und die Ergebnisse ihrer Handlungsfor-schungsprojekte zu präsentieren. Die Initiatoren der Internetseite Prof. Dr. Monika Alisch und Prof. Dr. Michael May von der FH Wiesbaden stellen hier Positionen zum Sozialraum-diskurs zur Diskussion und geben einen vertieften Einblick in das Masterprogramm maps. Die Seite informiert auch einen Überblick über die neue Buchreihe „Beiträge zur Sozialraum-forschung“, in der im Herbst 2009 die Bände 3 und 4 unter anderem mit Beiträgen von Mas-terabsolventen erscheinen. Ziel ist es, auf diese Weise die inzwischen in der Praxis und einer interdisziplinären Wissenschaft geführte Diskussion um die Möglichkeiten, Methoden und Instrumente der Sozialraumentwicklung und Sozialraumorganisation zu befördern.

zunächst danke ich der Stadt Karlshamn mit ihrem Bürgermeister Sven-Ake Svensson für die freundliche Einladung nach Karlshamn.
Gerne übermittle ich herzliche Grüße aus dem Stader Rat und der Verwaltung der Stadt.
Ich sage es gleich ganz ehrlich: Ich bin seit gestern das erste Mal in Schweden und kann aber jetzt schon für mich sagen: Ich fühle mich außerordentlich wohl, in unserer nördlichsten Partnerstadt Karlshamn.
Das mag einerseits daran liegen, dass ich schon über 600 Bürgerinnen und Bürger im letzten Jahr anlässlich der Schwedenwoche 2007 kennen gelernt habe und Sie sehr geehrter Kollege Sven-Ake, Bengt Mattsson und Ethel Duvskog persönlich in Stade empfangen konnte. Andererseits verbindet uns eine gemeinsame langjährige Freundschaft und Partnerschaft zwischen beiden Städten; sie wiederum ist im Grunde ein Glied in einer Kette von Beziehungen, die Stade nun schon seit Jahrhunderten mit Schweden verbinden.
Schon zur Hansezeit beteiligte sich Stade - vor allem über das freundschaftlich verbundene Lübeck - am Ostseehandel, und sicherlich haben damals Stader Kaufleute Schweden besucht.
Geradezu schicksalsbestimmend für unsere Stadt wurde aber die schwedische Herrschaft in Stade von 1645 bis 1712. Für Stade bedeutete die Schwedenzeit einen tiefgreifenden Umbruch. Die Stadt wurde von den Schweden zu einer der bedeutendsten und modernsten Festungen ausgebaut. Stade, im Mittelalter Handels- und Schifffahrtsort, wurde außerdem unter schwedischer Herrschaft Verwaltungsmittelpunkt. Regierung, Justizkanzlei und Hofgericht wurden von Bremervörde nach Stade verlegt und Einrichtungen der Kirchenaufsicht neu geschaffen.
Die Schwedenzeit prägt Stade bis heute. Wälle und Ravelins der schwedischen Festung, deren Einrichtung seinerzeit für die Stadt und ihre Bürger und Bürgerinnen mit schweren finanziellen Belastungen verbunden war, umgeben jetzt als willkommene Grünzone die Innenstadt. Nach dem Stadtbrand von 1659, der Dreiviertel aus dem Mittelalter stammenden Bausubstanz der alten Hansestadt in Schutt und Asche legte, erfolgte der Wiederaufbau unter der schwedischen Herrschaft und dem maßgebenden Einfluss der Schweden.
Ein Großteil der markanten Bauten Stades stammen aus jenen Jahren, etwa das Rathaus, das Zeughaus und der Schwedenspeicher, das Johanniskloster und der Turmhelm von St. Cosmae.
Der Ausflug in die Geschichte unserer Stadt Stade hat gezeigt, dass die historischen Wurzeln unserer Beziehung zu Schweden weit zurück reichen.
Unserer gemeinsamer Wille zur Städtepartnerschaft und auch in diesem Jahr zu einer Unterzeichnung einer gemeinsamen Erklärung beruht aber auf die im Laufe der Zeit immer enger gewordenen Beziehungen zwischen den jetzt lebenden Bürgerinnen und Bürgern der Städte Karlshamn und Stade.
Wir können gemeinsam zurückblicken auf vielfältige Begegnungen, die bereits in den 60er Jahren ihren Ursprung haben.
Kennzeichnend für unsere Städtepartnerschaft sind die inzwischen über Generationen gewachsenen persönlichen Beziehungen, die dazu geführt haben, dass wir in vielen Bereichen voneinander gelernt haben.
Das Schwedische Institut in Stockholm beschreibt den Schweden als freundlich, fleißig, ordentlich, rechtschaffen, gutgläubig, selbstbewusst und kontrolliert bei der Arbeit, die in der freien Zeit ausgelassen und unbekümmert das Leben genießen.
Wenn ich Ihre dynamische Stadtentwicklung in Karlshamn nachvollziehe, treffen diese Eigenschaften ganz besonders auf Sie, meine sehr verehrten Karlshamner, zu.
Um so mehr freut es mich, dass wir mit der Unterzeichnung der gemeinsamen Erklärung unsere Zusammenarbeit und unseren Austausch unter den Bürgerinnen und Bürgern beider Städte noch gezielter ausrichten und gemeinsam versuchen, EU-Förderprojekte zu entwickeln. Unsere Partnerschaftsarbeit hat sich nie auf offizielle Kontakte, auf Verträge und Vorschriften beschränkt, sondern sie wird auch weiterhin getragen von Bürgerinnen und Bürger unserer Stadt, und dazu gehört, dass die Menschen über die nationalen Grenzen hinweg einander verstehen, sich immer wieder um gegenseitiges Kennen lernen bemühen und dabei die vielen Gemeinsamkeiten erfahren, aber auch begreifen, was aus welchen Gründen unterschiedlich ist.
Im Namen unserer Städtepartnerschaftsbeauftragten Karina Holst und auch Herrn Guido Scheven, Fachgruppenleiter des Planungs- und Umwelt- und Grundstückamtes (team leader planning, environment and real estate) bin ich zuversichtlich, dass wir mit Ihnen allen zusammen unsere gesteckten Ziele erreichen.

first of all I would to thank the city of Karlshamn with their mayor Sven-Ake Svensson for the friendly invitation to Karlshamn. I gladly transmit warm greetings from the Stader council and the administration of the city. I'll be quite honest: it is my first time in Sweden since yesterday and I can say for myself : I feel exceptionally comfortable , in our most northern twin town Karlshamn. This may lie on the one hand with the fact that I have already met more than 600 citizens last year on the occasion of the Swedish week in 2007 and could welcome you personally in Stade very honored colleague Sven Ake, Bengt Mattsson and Ethel Duvskog. On the other hand, both cities have been united through a friendship of many years and cooperation; it is basically a link in a chain of relations which have connected Stade with Sweden since centuries.
Already during the Hanseatic League period, Stade participated in the east maritime trade primarily over the good connection to Lübeck and Stade merchants surely have visited Sweden during this period.
However, the Swedish reign became virtually destiny defining in our town Stade from 1645 to 1712. For Stade, the Swedish period meant profound radical change. The town was constructed by the Swedes to be one of the most important and most modern fortresses. In addition Stade, in the Middle Ages a trade and navigation place, became an administration center under Swedish rule. Government, justice chambers and court were transferred from Bremervörde to Stade and facilities of the church supervision were newly created.
The Swedish period characterizes Stade to this day. Embankments and Ravelins of the Swedish fortress which facilities were linked to heavy financial burdens for the town and its citizens at that time, are now surrounding the town center as a welcoming green area. After the city fire in 1659, which put three quarters of the structural fabric coming from the Middle Ages of the old Hanseatic town in rubble and ash, the reconstruction took place under the Swedish dominion and the authoritative Swede influence.
A majority of the noticeable buildings in Stade originate from these years, the town hall, the armory and the Swedish warehouse, the Johannis convent and the polygonal spire of Saint Cosmae.
The excursion into the history of our city of Stade has shown that the historic roots of our relationship with Sweden go far back.
The combined will to the town twinning and also this year a signing of a mutual agreement, is based on the relations that through the years have grown closer between the citizens living in the cities of Karlshamn and Stade.
We can look back together at versatile meetings which have their origins in the sixties.
Typical for our town twinning are the individual relationships that have meanwhile grown through generations which have led to the fact that we have learned in a lot of areas from each other.
The Swedish Institute in Stockholm describes the Swede as friendly, hard working, proper, upright, trustful, self-confident and controlled at work , in their spare time exuberant and enjoy life casually.
When I follow your dynamic city development in Karlshamn, these qualities especially apply to you, my very much revered Karlshamner.
It pleases me much more that with the signing of our mutual agreement that our co-operation and our exchange amongst the citizens of both cities are more directly aimed and together we will try to develop EU-Assisted Projects. Our cooperation work has never limited itself to official contacts, to contracts and rules, but it is carried furthermore by citizens of our city, and it is a fact that the people understand each other beyond national borders. They strive again and again for mutual meetings, getting to know a lot of common characteristics, but also understanding what is different and for which reasons.
On behalf of our twinning representatives Karina Holst and also Mr Guido Scheven, team leader planning, environment and real estate, I am confident that all of us will reach our set goals together.

I spent many years working as an accountant.
For six years I was a stay at home mom, who taught English to children. For nearly five years I have been working as an English trainer, dealing mainly with Business English, which comes easy to me, considering my professional background.
Every now and then I have done small translations for the mayor of our town,speeches, powerpoint presentations etc.
For over four years I translated a university newsletter from German to English. The main field of this newsletter was Social Sciences.
