I'd enjoy this session as a way to revisit a profession I am no longer actively pursuing but which I am very passionate about. After obtaining a degree in interpreting (EN, FR with IT being my mother tongue) in 1992 in Trieste, I worked in education, scientific online publishing, research insititution networks, communication and event organisation but I have always devoted a set amount of time and effort (at times quite sizeable) to free-lance translation.
I have recently stopped and now am in charge of communications at the United World College of the Adriatic in Duino (TS). I doubt I'll have a chance to do this in the near future, but I'd love to eventually get back to studying Portuguese (I was born in Brazil) and do some translation work in that language.
As I said, I studied for the interpreting profession, but fell in love with written translation instead ;) The advent of the Internet had much to do with this. I am ticking the "willing to help lead option" but I guess it might not be a good idea since I am no longer doing any translation work.
