Estoy buscando algo mas que; a whip of air.

a gust of air
another option!

a wind that whipped/ripped everything* about with the violent force of a hurricane
*things - I don't know if the things are actually physical broken objects or events, "everything", emotions, etc. This might give the feeling of everything being torn apart by a violent/destructive storm/wind that destroyed everything in its wake.
