The venue for this powwow is our usual pub, near Goodge Street:
The King & Queen. 1 Foley Street, London W1P 7LE
This is on the corner of Cleveland Street and Foley Street. See a map
here.
Nearest Tube stations: Regent's Park, Great Portland Street, Euston Square, Warren Street (Goodge Street will be closed). For public-transport information,
see the TfL website.
To come to the powwow: cross the downstairs bar room and go through the door marked "private" or "function room". The upstairs room has been booked from 3 pm.
As usual, the owner of the pub lets us use the room free of charge but he would like each of use to donate 1 GBP to the collection that he makes for the Macmillan cancer-support charity (
Macmillan website). I'll be there with a collecting envelope!
If somebody would like to give a talk on a translation or interpreting-related subject or suggest a theme for the powwow, please let me know. If not, I would like to organise the event in a way similar to the powwow on 30 July: at about 4 pm we'll have a sit-down session of about half an hour in which any of you can ask a question and the others can then answer or discuss the subject. This was so successful in July that the half-hour lasted twice that time!
The rest of the time is for general networking and drinking (drinks are available from the bar downstairs).
